Event narrative

Severe (D2) drought conditions persisted over the eastern quarter of Logan County through the end of June. Over far western portions of the county, moderate (D1) drought conditions improved to abnormally dry (D0) conditions by the end of the month. The cooperative observer at Stapleton 5W reported 4.61 inches of precipitation for June. This was 1.07 inches above the normal of 3.54 inches.

Wider weather episode

Abundant rainfall fell in June across western and north central Nebraska. This led to improvement in drought conditions across almost all of western and north central Nebraska. By the end of the month, three pockets of severe (D2) drought remained. The first over the eastern Sandhills, the second over western Garden County and the third over southeastern Hayes into most of Frontier County.
