What the National Weather Service wrote

First Baptist Church of Timpson sustained exterior damage, reported via broadcast media source and later confirmed via NWS damage survey. Severe wind gusts here knocked the brick veneer off of the front of the church with that veneer falling onto the church awning and destroying that as well.

The wider storm

Multiple supercell thunderstorms developed along a broad, diffuse baroclinic boundary across Northeast Texas throughout the day on June 8th. MLCAPE values were in excess of 4500 J/kg in proximity to these thunderstorms, with modest northwesterly mid-level flow contributing to 45 knots of effective bulk shear. Given the very weak convective inhibition, these thunderstorms persisted for several hours from early afternoon and throughout the evening. As a result, multiple severe reports of large hail and higher end damaging wind gusts were recorded across parts of Northeast Texas along with an isolated report of flash flooding in Mount Pleasant.

Began near Timpson (31.9100, -94.4000).
