Event narrative
Several trees were blown down by severe thunderstorm wind gusts, resulting in power outages. Six minutes prior to this report, a 52 mph wind gust was measured by the Chattanooga ASOS.
Wider weather episode
A severe mesoscale convective system, MCS, moved west to east across southern Tennessee, northern Alabama, and northern Georgia during the afternoon of the 7th. This complex produced significant utility infrastructure and other wind related damages across the Chattanooga metro.
