Event narrative

The entire zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought in June. The Cooperative Observer in Elk reported 2.75 inches of precipitation which was 1.13 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

While June 2025 brought at least slightly above normal precipitation to most of the region, it wasn't enough to improve drought conditions for southern New Mexico. Extreme(D3) to Exceptional(D4) drought continued through the month.
