Multiple reports of accumulating hail up to 0.75inch diameter between Pickford and Barbeau, MI, including report from COOP observer 2NE Pickford.
The wider storm
A strong low pressure system developed over the Plains, resulting in a warm day (unseasonably warm highs in the 60s) across the area. Enough instability was present, combined with the presence of a warm front, to allow for thunderstorm development in the afternoon and evening hours on the 14th across the eastern UP and Tip of the Mitt. Environment favored and produced accumulating hail, generally half inch to three-quarter inch in diameter.
Began near Stirlingville (46.1900, -84.3200).
