Hail up to 3 inches in diameter fell in Las Animas County from a supercell thunderstorm.
Wider weather episode
A shortwave trough pushed over the region, bringing increase shear and moisture, which allowed for long lived supercells to develop and trek to the southeast across much of the plains of the county warning area.
