Winter Storm — Central Siskiyou County, California
2025-02-03 to 2025-02-04 · Central Siskiyou County, California
Event narrative
For all but the highest elevations in the zone, downslope flow and relatively warm air limited snowfall during the majority of the episode. This changed during the latter portion. The National Gridded Snowfall Analysis indicated storm totals of 6 to 12 inches at elevations between 3000 and 5000 feet, with amounts of 4 to 8 inches down to valley floors. Precipitation amounts in the zone included 2.75 inches at Montague, 3.31 inches at Montague-Siskiyou Airport, and 1.68 inches at Weed.
Wider weather episode
An atmospheric river and stationary front brought heavy snow and gusty winds with the most significant impacts on 02/03 (Monday morning). The snowfall accumulation was high across the area, which was unusually high for areas east of the Cascades.
