Event narrative
The National Gridded Snowfall Analysis indicated storm totals of 12 to 60 inches at elevations above 5000 feet, with amounts of 1 to 12 inches down to valley floors. Amounts were highest in the northern portion of the Warner Mountains. Precipitation amounts in the zone included 2.04 inches at Alturas, 2.86 inches at Thomas Creek, 4.39 inches at Tickner Road near Canby and 4.80 inches at Cedar Pass.
Wider weather episode
An atmospheric river and stationary front brought heavy snow and gusty winds with the most significant impacts on 02/03 (Monday morning). The snowfall accumulation was high across the area, which was unusually high for areas east of the Cascades.
