The gusts measured by station UP367 at 4.9 NE Meade.
Wider weather episode
A cold front was the impetus for surface based thunderstorm development that afternoon. An initial, single supercell developed over Rush county around 5 pm, before uncommonly moving southwest through Dodge city and Meade through 10 PM. Additional organized thunderstorms were lifted by the cold front, in an northeast to southwest line and swept across southwest and central Kansas between about 10 pm and 2 am.
