A tree was blown down and blocking both lanes of traffic near the intersection of North Carolina highway 222 and Pelt Road.

Wider weather episode

A band of storms producing numerous reports of straight line wind damage moved through north-central and eastern North Carolina from mid afternoon through the evening hours. These storms were ahead of an approaching surface cold front and upper level area of low pressure.
