Extreme Heat Warning criteria were reached on one day. Eight people died during and immediately following the extreme heat of heat-related causes.
Wider weather episode
High pressure nosing in from the eastern Pacific pushed temperatures to dangerously hot levels. One person died of heat-related causes a couple of days after the peak of the heat.
