A warm, humid, and unstable airmass was in position over much of the Mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States. A shortwave trough moving through the Mid-Atlantic brought about more organized convection, especially in the Piedmont of Virginia. Severe thunderstorms caused tree damage in a couple Virginia counties.
