Wider weather episode
On the afternoon of June 19th, a cold front swept through West Virginia attached with thunderstorms capable of strong to damaging wind gusts. Impacts from storms were first noted in Wood County around midday and spread eastward as the front inched closer into the area. Additional downed trees and power lines across north-central West Virginia resulted in hundreds to be without power for a period of time. In the wake of the frontal passage that evening, drier air filtered into the state and crippled any additional thunderstorm activity from arising.
