Broadcast media shared a user-submitted video on social media showing a funnel cloud observed from Playa Flamenco in Culebra. The funnel cloud appeared to be located northeast of the beach. A second witness confirmed the event, observing it from Fajardo during the afternoon hours.

Wider weather episode

Diurnal heating and the approach of a tropical wave promoted afternoon convection downwind of St. Thomas. This resulted in a funnel cloud that was observed and reported by two witnesses in Culebra and Fajardo. The witness in Culebra recorded a video of the event.
