Event narrative

Downed trees and power lines along Church River Road in Grahn resulted in local power outages.

Wider weather episode

Hot and humid conditions were common across the Ohio Valley and Central Appalachians throughout the course of the month. Within this environment, diurnally driven showers and thunderstorms prevailed and occasionally grew strong enough to produce damaging wind gusts. On June 27th, this was the case with one particular storm that journeyed into Carter County, where downed trees and power lines resulted in local power outages. Impacts on this day were extremely isolated, and activity quickly waned heading into the evening hours with the loss of daytime heating.
