The zone started the month in Extreme(D3) drought and improved to Moderate(D1) drought on July 8th. The Cooperative Observer in Elk reported 4.81 inches of precipitation which was 1.67 inches above normal.
Wider weather episode
Consecutive months of above normal precipitation for most of the Sacramento Mountains helped to improve the drought conditions to Moderate(D1) by early July.
