The month started with Exceptional(D4) drought across the entire zone except the far north where it was in Extreme(D3) drought. By the end of July, the entire area improved one category with the far north placed in Severe(D2) drought while the remainder of the zone improved to Extreme(D3) drought.

Wider weather episode

Near to slightly above average precipitation in June and July helped to improve drought conditions slightly in Far West Texas.
