A trained spotter northwest of Ropesville reported quarter size hail up to a depth of two inches covering the ground.

Wider weather episode

Warm temperatures on the afternoon of the 14th allowed scattered thunderstorms to develop across portions of the South Plains. A few of these storms briefly became severe producing large hail and damaging wind gusts. Minor wind damage was reported around the city of Lubbock from this activity.
