Event narrative

A seventy five foot passenger vessel called the Atlantis discovery ran aground on shallow reef near Kewalo Basin in Honolulu. This happened after the boat got caught by a set of large waves of ten to fourteen feet. A high surf advisory was in place during that time.

A large long period south swell brought large surf and dangerous conditions to south facing shores of each island.
