Event narrative

Storm total snowfall amounts of up to 2 inches were observed across the southern portion of Choctaw County.

Wider weather episode

A historic snowstorm transformed the northern Gulf Coast into a winter wonderland on January 21, 2025. This snowstorm shattered longstanding snowfall records across the region, including the nearly 130-year-old snowfall records that were set during the February Snowstorm of 1895. The highest observed snowfall totals were approximately 10 inches along the coast, with less than an inch of snow observed north of US-84. An indirect fatality occurred when a truck struck a stalled vehicle that was part of a previous multi-vehicle accident, ejecting the driver of the stalled car.
