A heat dome continued to strengthen and expand across the eastern CONUS during late June. The upper level pattern was dominated by a large 594 dam Bermuda High over the eastern US with a deep trough over the West Coast. This pattern persisted for several days before the ridge finally broke down and the westerlies advanced further south.
