A Texas Tech University West Texas mesonet site near Levelland measured a wind gust of 63 mph.

Wider weather episode

For a second consecutive afternoon, isolated to scattered thunderstorms developed across the South Plains and Rolling Plains regions. The atmosphere was generally not favorable for severe weather but a relatively dry sub-cloud layer allowed one storm to become severe producing a severe wind gust. Although most storms did not produce severe weather, one storm did produce a severe wind gust near Levelland (Hockley County).
