Event narrative

Several 3 to 6-inch diameter tree limbs were blown down on the northwest side of Pana.

Wider weather episode

A cold front triggered a thin line of strong to severe thunderstorms east of the Illinois River during the afternoon of July 16th. The storms generally produced wind gusts of 40-50mph: however, a portion of the line became more intense with wind gusts of 60-70mph and wind damage across Bloomington-Normal and Towanda in McLean County.
