Event narrative

Power outages were caused by fallen trees damaging power equipment along North Carolina highway 96 and Keen Road near Four Oaks.

Wider weather episode

Diurnally driven thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and continued into the evening and into the early morning hours of the 19th of July. Two separate areas of thunderstorms developed: one across the north moving to the east-southeast, while a second area across the north moved north-northeast. There were multiple wind damage reports, but no flooding occurred.
