The Pickett Fire broke out to the north of Calistoga on August 21 around 3 PM, and would eventually burn 6803 acres, leading to evacuations across mainly rural areas of Napa County, including the community of Aetna Springs. Hot and dry conditions, with warm overnight lows and poor overnight humidity recoveries in the higher elevations, presented elevated fire weather threats across the interior through the first few days of the fire's lifecycle.
