A wind gust of 36 knots was measured at the Keys Energy Services Stock Island Power Plant Transmission and Distribution Facility.

A deep middle-to-upper level trough was positioned over the Gulf of America, with the western flank of a north Atlantic ridge setting up a deep veering wind direction profile over the Florida Keys. Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms developed, producing scattered gale-force wind gusts over the far western Lower Florida Keys and the adjacent coastal waters.
