Event narrative

Widespread roadway flooding occurred in the tidal communities of Ocean County. Water entered vulnerable buildings causing some damage. The tide gauge at Mantoloking reached 2.77 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at Waretown reached 3.20 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at Barnegat Light reached 4.67 feet MLLW, and the tide gauge at Ship Bottom reached 4.38 feet MLLW.

Wider weather episode

Storm surge from Hurricane Erin and an upcoming New Moon resulted in moderate to locally major high tide levels on the night of August 21, 2025 across coastal areas of New Jersey.
