Thunderstorm wind gusts removed the roof from a small shed.
Wider weather episode
As a subtle mid-level impulse worked eastward across the region, a couple of multicell thunderstorm clusters developed during the early to mid afternoon across northwest Iowa near and to the north of the surface boundary. With mixed-layer instability of 1500-2000 J/kg and deep-layer shear of 35-40 knots, organized storms developed and utilized an inverted-V thermodynamic profile to accentuate a swath of damaging wind gusts near and just south of Iowa State Highway 9.
