Event narrative
Thunderstorm wind gusts brought several large limbs down. As a result of limbs coming down on powerlines around Cherokee, up to 1800 electrical customers were without power.
Wider weather episode
Thunderstorms developed along a stout outflow boundary, which dropped southward into the area through the day. The boundary served as a gradient in shear and instability, and focused initial development during the afternoon hours, which featured hail up to golf ball size. Storms evolved to produce a couple tracks of damaging wind heading southeast across northeast Nebraska and northwest Iowa into very early evening.
