Several thunderstorms developed in northeast Missouri during the late afternoon of August 9th. These thunderstorms congealed into a single, discrete cell just before moving into Knox and Shelby Counties. As the cell pushed east, it produced a severe wind gust in Adams County, though no damage was reported.
