On the afternoon of July 6, 2025, a weak vorticity maximum moving east from Colorado into Nebraska initiated a mesoscale convective system across eastern Nebraska. The system produced several strong wind gusts before gradually weakening as it progressed eastward toward the Missouri River. A public mesonet station reported a peak wind gust of 64 mph east of Cedar Rapids, NE.
