Wider weather episode
The approach of a dissipating front helped import ample low-level moisture into the lower and mid Rio Grande Valley between June 8-12, with heat index values peaking on the 12th. The unstable airmass fueled an approaching area of thunderstorms, which blossomed into a combination of severe (wind damage and hail) and nuisance flooding in Hidalgo County that evening.
