Heat indices peaked in the 110-112 degree range each afternoon, with little relief overnight as lows were in the 80s.

Wider weather episode

Extreme heat due to a combination of hot temperatures and high dewpoints led to heat indices peaking above 105 degrees for much of Eastern NC the last week of June, centered on June 24th through June 25th, when peak heat indices reached as high as 110 to 115 degrees. Little relief was felt overnight, as lows ranged from the upper 70s to around 80.
