Extreme heat due to a combination of hot temperatures and high dewpoints led to heat indices peaking above 105 degrees for much of interior Eastern NC the last week of July, centered on July 26th through July 28th, when peak heat indices reached as high as 110 to 115 degrees. Little relief was felt overnight, as lows ranged from the upper 70s to around 80.
