Event narrative

Emergency manager and the public reported numerous trees uprooted and/or snapped in the vicinity of the Gaston/Cleveland County border, especially from the intersection of County Line Rd with Beattie Rd, south along the Highway 216 corridor. Minor roof damage occurred to a barn while a tree fell on a house on Cenco Dr.

Wider weather episode

Scattered thunderstorms and storm clusters developed over the North Carolina Blue Ridge during the early afternoon and steadily progressed east through the afternoon into the early evening. Isolated storms became severe and produced hail and brief damaging wind gusts.
