Mesonet site XSHN at Shinnecock measured a 36 knot wind gust.
Wider weather episode
A broken line with numerous showers and thunderstorms formed well southwest of the area. A Mesoscale Convective Complex formed on the northern end of the line and scraped the southern Long Island coast. A couple instances of damaging winds were observed.
