The Weatherflow mesonet on Pontchartrain Causeway XPTN measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 44 mph or 38 knots.
The wider storm
A mesoscale convective system developed in the morning across southeast Louisiana as a weak upper level system passed overhead. One storm within this complex produced a severe wind gust over Lake Pontchartrain.
