The ASOS station at Lakefront Airport measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 48 mph or 42 knots.
The wider storm
A decaying outflow boundary sent out from storms in northern Mississippi and Alabama reached the local area late on the 19th. As this boundary reached the local area, it encountered a quite unstable environment which was conducive for convective development and gusty winds.
