Event narrative
Emergency manager reported stream flooding developed in areas south of Rockwell after 2.5 to 4 inches of rain fell across the area over a period of 4 to 6 hours. Klums Creek overflowed its banks and inundated Old Beatty Ford Rd. Water from a tributary inundated another portion of Old Beatty Ford near Emanual Church Rd. Another tributary overflowed onto Gin Rd near Eller Rd. Water also reportedly covered other roads in the area.
Wider weather episode
Widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms developed across the North Carolina Piedmont during the morning in the vicinity of a weak frontal boundary. An area of flooding developed across southern Rowan County in response to 2.5 to 4 inches of rain falling over several hours.
