Event narrative

A plume of blowing dust due to a thunderstorm outflow was observed from the Nevada Seimo Lab web camera near Gerlach. Visibility was estimated as low as 1/2 mile. Wind speeds at the time were measured at 52 mph.

Wider weather episode

A four corners high pressure advected a high amount of atmospheric moisture into the region. This was day one of an extended push of monsoon moisture that produced heavy rain, localized flooding, strong outflow winds.
