A pre-frontal trough axis extending southeast from an area of low pressure over southeast Missouri moved across northern Alabama and southern middle Tennessee during the afternoon hours on the 16th. This feature interacted with unstable conditions to produce more than more round of strong thunderstorms producing damaging winds.
