An anomalously strong high over the southeastern United States produced very hot and humid conditions during the day with an extreme heat warning over eastern sections of central North Carolina. Heat indices were as high as 110 to 115 degrees across the eastern Piedmont, Coastal Plain, and Sandhills of central North Carolina.
