The wider storm

An upper-level trough and cold front progressed from the Great Lakes region into the Mid-Atlantic on July 1. A line of thunderstorms moved across the Chesapeake Bay and onto the lower Maryland Eastern Shore in the evening hours, producing scattered damaging winds.
