Event narrative

There were numerous reports of flooding via waze with water visible on the roadway via VDOT cameras in the vicinity of I-264 just east of the downtown tunnel.

Wider weather episode

Scattered showers and storms developed across central and eastern Virginia on July 12 given an unstable air mass in place. These storms were slow-moving and produced heavy rain and flooding.
