The Turner Gulch Fire started in early July due to a lightning strike 7.5 miles northeast of Gateway, Colorado to the east and south of Highway 141. The fire grew to 31,699 acres before it was contained in early September. The estimated cost was $40,400,000.00, 15 structures were threatened but none were destroyed.
