Event narrative

A road collapsed along Rayonier Road between Highway 169 and Trye Road in north Jesup, GA. The time of damage was based on radar in the area. Radar indicated only 1-2 inches of storm total rainfall for the date, and this was the only rainfall impact in the Jesup area at this time.

Wider weather episode

A surface front lingered near the Florida-Georgia state line with deep layer moisture across the local area (precipitable water was over 90% of average for the date). Slow southwest steering flow triggered sea breeze storms south of the front across north Florida with more stratiform rainfall near and north of the front across southeast Georgia. Slow storm motion and boundary mergers produced heavy rainfall and gusty wet downburst winds.
