Wider weather episode
Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms developed across portions of northern and western Oklahoma on the 8th, on the periphery of a convectively modified surface boundary. Despite modest deep-layer wind fields (contributing to modest wind shear), strong instability and consolidated outflow boundaries led to occasional reports of severe wind gusts and thunderstorm wind damage. Large hail was also reported with briefly organized thunderstorms in Garfield and Kiowa Counties.
