A heat wave kicked off as a strong ridge moved into the Lower Mississippi Valley in response to a Bermuda High expanding into the southeastern United States. Excessive humidity and temperatures in the mid to upper 90s generated heat indices in excess of 105 degrees, with the Mississippi Delta Region suffering from Extreme Heat.
