The South Dakota Department of Transportation Road Automated Weather Stations 6 miles south southwest of Peever and 1 mile west northwest of Summit would record wind gusts of 64 and 63 mph at 14:56 and 15:29 CST respectively.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure was followed by a front which helped generate strong winds on September 4th. A peak wind gust of 65 mph was observed by the South Dakota Department of Transportation mesonet weather station near Agar and by a personal weather station 2 miles north northeast of Hosmer. An additional 22 weather stations would go on to record a peak wind gust in excess of 58 mph.
