A large tree was blown down across the road by powerful thunderstorm winds. At 2:55 PM EDT, the Sevierville AWOS recorded a 53 mph wind gust with this thunderstorm.

Wider weather episode

A cold front pushing through the Mid-South in an environment of 30 knots of effective shear and plenty of CAPE fueled several severe thunderstorms that tracked across portions of East Tennessee, producing several instances of severe wind damage and severe hail.
